The Cahootz are an Alternative Rock Band from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania founded while the three members were still in high school. While there, Max Theofilis, Bobby Fello and Jake Saltzman, managed to survive the “lame high school band” stigma and continue their playing careers into adulthood. Max Theofilis is the lead songwriter and singer of the band, known for his “unique” voice and odd yet hummable compositions, his songs serve to help him better understand his own existence and the existence of the people that inhabit his world. Filled with absurd humor, his lyrics and concepts are described, by the writer himself, as “hiding complexity within simplicity,” and his idiosyncratic compositions keep the listener on their toes, as they pivot here and there away from expectations and lead the audience down the musical nooks and crannies of our reality.
